A huge difference in getting a puppy from a dedicated breeder is the quality development that goes into each puppy through a purposeful curriculum.
We understand the developmental stages of puppies and introduce them to age-appropriate challenges and experiences so that they are well-adjusted and ready for their forever families!
For example, puppies will be exposed at appropriate ages to sounds such as the blender, the vacuum cleaner, the weed eater, and even airplanes, cars and rolling trashcans. These early exposures to noises and sights can help them not to startle when they encounter them at their forever home.
We also utilize Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) and Early Scent Introduction, starting the first week. This is a program that is used in military and police dogs. ENS stresses their bodies in a systematic and simple way and makes them more likely to grow into well-rounded pups, ready for whatever life has for them. It’s a very gentle, purposeful practice that starts from the first weeks of life.
All puppies will be introduced to crates, car rides and potty training. Though you shouldn’t expect your puppy to be completely crate or potty trained when they’re ready to go home at 8 weeks old, they will have much practice with these behaviors and be primed for their at-home training!
If you’re looking for a great book to get you ready for your puppy, we recommend Puppy Brain by Kerry Nichols. It gives an excellent breakdown of stage by stage development and step-by-step instructions on everything from potty training to socialization, with a specific section dedicated to families bringing home their first puppy.
